Laura Ashton’s involvement with EDEN began as a member of EDEN’s volunteer Collective in 2008.  She joined the counselling team at EDEN as a Student Counsellor in March 2009, seeing clients on a weekly basis.  Upon completing her placement requirements in July 2010, Laura was employed as a contract counsellor in EDEN’s Counselling Service.

Laura leaves the Counselling Service at EDEN, to give more time to her role as Business Services Manager, at Mind and Body.  Best wishes for the future, Laura.

This edition, EDEN farewell’s our Agency Manager Dr. Maree Burns.   Maree has had involvement with EDEN that spans a ten year period and she has held the roles of Collective member, Educator, Youth Worker, Agency Manger/Coordinator, Presenter and as a Contract Counsellor (so most of those available!).

Maree has made a huge contribution to EDEN over the years that she has been at the agency, including significant research on eating issues and being the face of EDEN for many years.  Although Maree is leaving the Agency Manager position, she will continue as a Contract Counsellor at EDEN.  We wish you all the best Maree, as you embark on the new adventures that await!

Roof Collapse 2011

Although we were yet to return to work from the holiday break, businesses and home owners around The Family Therapy Centre in Westmere got a nasty shock at around 12.30pm on Thursday 13th January, 2011.

The awning and part of the roof of the Family Therapy Centre, the building that hosts the offices of EDEN, collapsed onto the sidewalk of busy Garnet Rd.   Fortunately no one was hurt in the collapse, the building was very quickly declared safe to enter by Council building inspectors and services to EDEN clients were not interrupted.

Unfortunately our Air Conditioning/Heating Unit did not survive the awning collapse, so if you know of any generous businesses or individuals who might be interested in donating such a unit to EDEN, we would be extremely grateful recipients!
