EDEN brings you Nourish!

EDEN (Eating Difficulties Education Network) is offering Nourish training to those who work with young people. Nourish offers a smorgasboard of training ideas to promote body confidence, self-esteem & critical thinking for young people. Through creative activities, discussions, a DVD, images & worksheets, students are able to explore these issues in a variety of learning styles.

Currently young people are faced with more pressure to look “perfect” than at any other time. EDEN believes that it is vital to combat this pressure by providing young people with information, alternative perspectives & tools for change.

The Nourish training workshops for health professionals, community workers & teachers is deliberately not a resource on eating disorders, weight or food pyramids. Nourish seeks to move concepts such as “love your body” into action. This is achieved through a shift in perception, from body evaluation (weight, body comparisons, externally referenced, energy in/energy out equations) to body appreciation (listening, internally referenced, body

wonderment).

Nourish helps young people to:

  • Understand & deal with thoughts & feelings about physical appearance,
  • Examine influences on body Image with a particular focus on the media,
  • Practice listening to & appreciating their bodies,
  • Learn about body trust & the dangers of dieting,
  • Celebrate diversity in themselves & others,
  • Identify ways to create “body-safe” environments

Our hope is that Nourish will lead young people through an engaging, holistic, optimistic & exciting journey to body confidence.

Workshops include:

  • 4 hour training
  • Nourish resource – includes activities, workshops, worksheets, links and helplines
  • Safety guide – information and guidance regarding disordered eating
  • Facilitator’s guide – includes tips, ideas, questions & variations
  • “At War With Our Bodies” DVD
  • Lunch

Workshops run from 10am – 2.30pm with lunch included.

Costs:

  • Community Group / School / Student: $160.00
  • Private Practice / Business / Self-Employed / Government Organisation: $210.00
